Our Philosophy

The right arrangement changes the temperature of a room.

At Sex in a Vase, we believe flowers are the most powerful — and most underestimated — form of desire available to a civilised person. A single well-chosen stem communicates what months of conversation cannot. We choose very carefully.

Every arrangement leaves our atelier with a specific purpose: to be noticed, to be felt, to linger. The conversations they start tend to end somewhere interesting.

Our studio occupies a converted Victorian glasshouse in Mayfair. Head florist Margaux Delavigne and her team arrive before dawn six days a week — not because they have to, but because the best stems go to those who want them most.

The Atelier

Founded on a dare. Sustained by something considerably stronger.

Sex in a Vase was born at a dinner party in Belgravia in 2024, when Margaux Delavigne — three glasses into an excellent Burgundy — was dared to name her imaginary flower shop something unforgettable. She went home, registered the domain, and woke up to forty-two orders and one cease-and-desist request she has framed above her desk.

"I wanted the name to make people feel something before the flowers even arrived. The flowers take care of the rest."
— Margaux Delavigne, Founder

Today the atelier employs twelve florists, operates two vans and a vintage bicycle courier for central London, and carries a bespoke waiting list that routinely stretches to six weeks. We have been featured in Vogue four times. We have been asked to tone it down on three separate occasions by three separate institutions. We have, on each occasion, politely declined.

Recurring Desire

Because once is never quite enough.

A standing arrangement for those who have realised that a home without extraordinary flowers is simply a building. Subscribe. Your table — and everyone who sits at it — will notice immediately.

As featured in

"Sex in a Vase does something flowers haven't done since the Victorians invented their language for it — they make you feel things you weren't expecting to feel, in rooms where you were supposed to be behaving."

— Vogue UK, March 2025

What Our Patrons Are Saying

Bespoke Commissions

Tell us everything. We can handle it.

Margaux accepts a limited number of private commissions each month. Bring her your occasion, your recipient, your budget, your history — the more she knows, the more dangerous the result. She will not raise an eyebrow. She will, however, raise the stakes considerably.
